Allgemeine-SS white Summer Tunic

Standarte '83' (Located in Giessen)

The four-pocket, Allgemeine-SS tunic for an SS-Rottenfuhrer with SS-Standarte '83' (Giessen). The tunic in lightweight white cotton, and with open collar, pleated upper-, and slash lower- pockets, standard French cuffs, and loops for two awards. Dull silvered aluminium buttons throughout. The tunic with a detachable Allgemeine-SS ORs epaulette. A matched pair of collar patches with machine-embroidered '83' on black wool, along with the rank patch bearing two brocade rank stripes. Both collar patches fitted to the collar with poppers, allowing them to be detached. The SS swastika armband  also attached with poppers, allowing it to be detached. The Allgemeine-SS cufftitle with blue borders, likewise attached with poppers allowing for removal. The inside collar with machine-woven owners initials. 

Condition report: The summer tunic showing general use, particularly to the cuffs and collar  The tunic dirty in places, particularly the back with some areas of staining. The insignia showing some light use overall, and the wool armband with some mothing in places.

Provenance: Acquired from the German auction house, Hanseatisches Auktionshaus Hamburg, in the 1990s. One collection until consigned to ULRIC of ENGLAND. Featured within Inside The Allgemeine-SS 1925 - 1945, page 208.
